North Yorkshire’s Coast & Countryside waiting to be explored

One of the joys of staying with us is how much there is to discover right on our doorstep. Nestles by the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Gisborough Hall is perfectly placed for countryside adventures, and the Yorkshire coast is just a short drive away. Whether you’re seeking beautiful views, peaceful woodland walks, or the salty sea air, you’ll find it all within easy reach.

Surfing

Saltburn-by-the-Sea is probably the North East’s best known surf spot, listed in the top 10 places to surf in the UK. The surfing conditions in Saltburn make it a great place for learning to surf, and for experts to progress. There are plenty of places to hire surf gear and if you’re new to the sport or want to progress your skills there are surfing schools that offer lessons.

Cycling

There are so many magnificent cycling routes to explore in the North Yorkshire countryside. For road cyclists, the East Cleveland Klondike showcases beautiful coast and woodland nearby, and the various Tour de Yorkshire routes can be joined from the hotel. For mountain biking, head to Guisborough Forest for great trails with routes including various climbs and descents.

Walking breaks in North Yorkshire

The North York Moors National Park offers some fantastic walks with breath-taking scenery. The famous Cleveland Way is almost on our doorstep and Roseberry Topping to Captain Cooks Monument circular walk can be joined on foot from the hotel. On arrival back to the hotel, kick off your muddy boots and enjoy dinner in our award winning Chaloner’s restaurant, stay overnight, followed by full Yorkshire breakfast.

Bridge

Why not enjoy a game of bridge whilst you’re relaxing in the hotel. We can provide other players to challenge your bids and also arrange coaching to perfect your bridge playing strategy. Robin Hoods Bay

Staithes

Once home to Captain Cook, the fishing village of Staithes feels like stepping back in time. With its higgledy-piggledy cottages and winding alleyways, it’s brimming with character. Enjoy fresh seafood, browse art galleries, or simply soak up the coastal views.
